Measurements of distorsions of single 0-90-0 C-C staves.

Measurements done in the mechanical workshop of Genoa with the DEA metrology station.

November/December 2000

 The staves are kept in horizontal position by 3 devices (two at the  endpoints and one in the middle of the stave) which measure the vertical loads (shown in the pictures).  In the middle point the staves are blocked by means of the project support (see the project), at the endpoind  had-hoc clamps keep the stave in local horizontal position.    The measurement reference system has the origin at the baricentre of the stave, the x-axis is along the stave, the z-axis is vertical  upward positive ; the units are: mm, module plane number and degree. The residuals shown in the 3rd plot ( see stave1, stave2a, stave3) are in blue for measurements along the middle line of the stave ( about at y ~0) and red  for the measurments near the stave border ( y = +10. and y=-10.).  The bad planarity of the central plane  is effect of the central support.

 Stave-1(ps)     measured at T=20 0C, 36 measurements per module plane;
  Stave 2                      measured with heaters at temperatures ranging between -10 0C and +20 0C
  Stave-2a(ps)        measured at T=20 0C, 36 measurements per module plane;
  Stave-3(ps)         measured at T=20 0C, 36 measurements per module plane;
  Stave-b4(ps)          measured at T=20 0C, with and without constrains
  Stave-5(ps)      measured at T=20 0C, with and without constrains
  Stave-6(ps)      measured at T=20 0C, with and without constrains
