The Gulf of Tigullio

Once a fisherman village, Santa Margherita Ligure is a well known tourist center which developed during the second half of the XIX century. Together with typical ligurian buildings, the many liberty (art nouveau) hotels and villas characterize the town.

It is recommanded to have an excursion to Portofino (3 km), the real queen of this part of Liguria. Its position, in a narrow bay surrounded by the mediterranean thicket and olive trees, can be better appreciated by arriving from the sea, or from the sky. But the village is anyway very charmful: a natural postcard. Portofino

Rapallo is the biggest and perhaps the most famous town in the Gulf of Tigullio: honestly, the recent constructions have not contributed to increase its beauty. The historical center is nevertheless rather interesting and to walk along the sea in the evening is a quite typical activity. All tourist attractions and services are available, sailing, golfing, horse riding, etc.
