IFR Protocol Board

PDB

(Designed by S.Minutoli)

The Point-to-point Distribution Backplane ( PDB ) is part of the FE crate of IFR DAQ system.

The FE crate is used to readout the 50000 channels of IFR, the boards located in the crate read the digital data of the Front-End cards ( FEC ), keep the data until the Read_Events arrives, and send them to ROM via G_link.

The board plugged in the crate are :

IFB ( IFR Fifo Board )

ICB ( IFR Calibration Board )

ITB ( IFR TDC Board )

ICC ( IFR Crate Controller)

In total there are 8 FE crates.

The PDB is used to connect the various boards to the ICC. The transmission of the BaBar system clock at 59.5MHz puts special requirements on the construction of the backplane.

The prototype, realized with stripline technology, strips structure,

and used in the test setup .
