THE PRESENT

(and recent past)

ZEUS
The DELPHI trigger electronics recently underwent to a general reorganization. Genova contribution is the planning and realization of a new trigger supervisor, a FASTBUS module called ZEUS. New technology (use of Xilinx) and increased functions, are the main features of the module.
The module has been realized and used in data taking.

Forward Tracking
The DELPHI detector is shaped and piled up in such a way that the tracking at small polar angles (with respect to the beam direction) is rather critical. To help, a small, silicon strip based detector was realized and used in addition to the micro-vertex detector (Very Forward Tracker). Nevertheless, precise information on the tracks near the Forward Rich window is still lacking. Also, one would wish a reasonable redundancy of the trigger for forward tracks. As a possible solution, people in Genova have studied the possibility to introduce, together with the old FCA chambers, some new thin gap gas chambers. Several prototypes have been successfully tested on the beam. Two different types of electrodes are read-out, 3 mm wide strips and triangular pads. The electronics installed on the chambers was planned and realized in Genova.
