The meeting will be held in the Physics Department of the University of Genova located in:

difi
Via Dodecaneso 33
16146 Genova
The Department is about 3 kilometers from the downtown area and can be reached following the directions given below. For the general directions about how to reach the Genova downtown area, where most hotels are located, refer to the travel information.

by bus from downtown
In the following you will find directions on how to reach the Physics Department from the downtown area by bus. It takes about 20-30 minutes to reach the Department depending on the starting point. The bus ticket can be purchased in all newspaper kiosks. The cost is 1.2 Euros and the ticket is valid for 90 minutes from when it is stamped on the bus. A book of 10 tickets (called carnet) can be purchased for 11 Euros. The same ticket can be used for more than one ride on buses and subway within the period of validity.

n.b. Buses do not actually stop at all bus stops unless requested either by the passengers, who can press the red buttons on board, or by the people waiting at the stop, who can make a sign raising one hand.

If you stay at Hotel Metropolis, Hotel City or the Locanda di Palazzo Cicala, we suggest to get the bus in Piazza de Ferrari. From Piazza De Ferrari, take the bus 44 (the bus stop is shown on the map on the right). The bus departs from De Ferrari every 5-10 min.

If you stay at Hotel Bristol you can cross Via XX Settembre and take bus 44 at the stop on the other side of the street.
People staying at Hotel Assarotti can take bus 18,37,39 or 40 at the bus stop at the corner between PIazza Corvetto and Via Santi Giacomo e Filippo and get off in Piazza Verdi (in front of the Brignole Railway Station).
From Piazza Verdi take bus 45,86,87 or 17. Lines 45,86,87 are more convenient because they stop closer to the Physics Department than line 17.
People staying at Hotel Astoria and Hotel Verdi can take the bus in Piazza Verdi.
If you are on bus 44,45,86 or 87, get off at the San Martino 2/Papigliano bus stop, shown in red on the map below ((the stops are usually announced on the bus but you can also ask the driver; the bus stop can be recognized because it is just after the Skoda Showroom and is in front of a grocery store called DiPerDi). If you are on bus 17, get off at the Corso Europa/Ospedale San Martino stop, shown in green on the map below (the stops are announced on the bus).
From the bus stop you can walk to the Physics Department following the path shown on the map below.
difi_map

From the bus n. 17, walk back along Corso Europa, turn left and walk up the stairs named Scalinata Papigliano to via San Martino. If you took bus 44,45,86 or 87 the bus stop is already in Via San Martino. From the bus stop walk back and turn left in Via Papigliano. Take the stairs to Via Padre Semeria and then turn right and immediately left on the footbridge, which is on the left side of a church (you will see signs indicating the various Departments). Walk down the stairs at the end of the bridge: the Physics Department is almost in front of you, a few steps farther to your left.

Signs will be posted along the path to facilitate finding the Physics Department.

To go back downtown you can take bus 17,44,45,85,86 or 87 (avoid 18 that makes a long detour) at the bus stop shown in blue on the map.

from the airport
If you will come directly from the airport, you can either take a taxi directly to the Physics Department (the cost is about 25-30 Euros and the ride will take about 20-25 min.) or use the airport bus, which will bring you to the Principe Railway Station in about 30 minutes. The ticket costs 4 Euros and is valid for one day on the Metro and all buses. From the station you can take the Metro to Piazza De Ferrari and, from there, bus 44 following the directions given above.

From the Principe Railway station, take the subway (called Metro, short for Metropolitana) to Piazza De Ferrari. The map on the right show the location of the subway entrance with respect to the train station and volabus bus stop. From Piazza De Ferrari take bus 44 following the directions given above.

From the Brignole station take bus 45,86,87 or 17 following the directions given above.

by car

We suggest people arriving from North and West to leave the motorway at Genova Ovest exit. After the toll station, you will find two subsequent junctions: at the first, take the left ramp; at the second, take the right ramp, always following the directions to the city center and to the sopraelevata (elevated expressway overlooking the harbor on your right); after about a mile on the sopraelevata you will go down a ramp leading to a roundabout: keep right and go straight along the seaside (Corso Italia); from there proceed to Piazza Leonardo da Vinci.
People arriving from East are suggested to use the Genova-Nervi exit. Drive along Corso Europa (direction Genova Centro). When the guardrail separator ends, turn left at following light, follow via Corridoni, via Montezovetto and then again proceed to Piazza Leonardo da Vinci.
From Piazza Leonardo da Vinci, drive through Via Boselli. At the light, turn left in Via Guerrazzi, then right in Via Pisa, left again in Via Flora to reach finally Via Dodecaneso. Signs indicating the Physics Department (DIFI) are posted along these streets.
